Ya Ali Madad/Asaalam Aliyukum. My brother Zubir of Pakistan, I refer to your comment with regard to our next Imam. You state that our Hazar Imam has said that his daughter would be the next Imam. As far as I am aware, he never stated that in his BBC Interview on July 17, 1997. If you go into Heritage Society, click 1997, click BBC Interview in 11 July 1997, which states, His Highness The Aga Khan's Radio Interview with BBC London - Aiglemont, July 17th 1997 (By John Tidmarsh), as follows: JT (Question) "Ultimately, your turn will come to choose a successor, you have a daughter and 2 sons, could it be a daughter?" AK (Answer) "You know traditionally, historically it's been a man, the Imam keeps that choice to himself". Imam is used in the Koran to mean leader,guide,model,or sing.These basic connotations are preserved in the four distinctive usages of later Islam. (1) The Sunnites use imam as a title for caliphs, the successors of Muslim community. One of the caliph's functions was to lead the community in Friday prayers. (2) A local group of Muslims may appoint an imam to lead them in the Friday prayers. Any Muslim of undisputed piety and sound knowledge of the Islamic faith and ritual can serve in the capacity.(3) For Shiites, only a person from the clan of the Prophet can be the imam, for some of them only a descendant from Ali, the son-in-law of muhammad.(4) Imam is also an honoray title give to a few of the most outstanding Muslim scholar of all centuries, such as al-Ghazali.

i have a further question, why would i not be allowed to meet your imam, or correspondence????? my ismaili friends also complain that there are always barriers, one is not allowed to even shake his hands, why, he is everbody's imam!!!!!!! i understand from my ismaili friends that, if i had to write a letter to him it would not reach him. why should there be a big gap or distance. plse forgive me i have lot of respect for your imam!!!!!! but these questions do arise!!!!!!

Q1. why your women dress in your jamati khanna with very expensive clothes and jewels, like fashion parades. as i know from the quran, one has to wear simple clothes.Q2. why your imams and family marry christians and then convert to muslims and not marry ismailis, i understand from my ismaili friends imam is spiritual father and cannot marry spiritual daughters but then all ismailis are spiritual brothers and sisters, then they cannot marry each other! To this Shia add:"And Ali, the companion of Mohammed, is the Vicar of God." Etymologically the word "Shia" means either stream or a section.In Ismailis "Living Imam" is the "Spiritual Guide"; who must be obeyed and who dwells among those whom he commands spiritual obedience.Ismailis don't believe in "hidden Imam".
