This Persian calligraphy invokes prayers that are dedicated to our Prophet Muhammed and Hazrat Ali. I think it reads: "O Allah Give your blessings to our Prophet Muhammed and his great disciple Ali. (The Salwaat) Purify our hearts and souls, bless us all, and group us with your virtuous children"

for all those who are confused about dasond. First of all nobody forces you to give dasond, it's an obligation. when you do give dasond you get double back of what you give. In addition, you have no right to ask where the dasond goes as your obligation stops upon giving. there is no debate about this topic. So when you do comment on dasond, i feel that you are confused. Yes we can debate on how some of our people abuse their positions working with AKF institutions. As there are some ismaili thieves in senior positions with our institutions in the third world countries that do abuse the system. Why don't we discuss this!! As for Juma, are you really an ismaili? If you are than i feel that you need serious help in life. I pity you!!

USING ABUSIVE AND DEGORATORY TERM FOR LEADERS IS ABOSULUTELY SATANIC: But you cannot stop it. Even Mahtma Gandhi was called a "Kangaroo." I remember how JESUS CHRIST, son of God with billions of followers in the world was called Homosexual. It was at Oxford, an Anglican vicar told a conference .Canon Hugh Montefiore of Cambridge told churchmen:"Women were his friends, but it is men he said to have loved."

ZAKAT IN ISLAM: It is alms tax.By this law means a tax which is levied on definite kinds of persons, Giving away worldly possessions was regarded particularly a pious act.Quran from the first lays stress on the practice of benevolence as one of the chief virtues of true believer(Sura xiii.22;xxxv,29(Thgose who spend out secretly and openly of what we have bestwed on them."Sura ii.215 and Tradition repeatedly describe as recipients of Zakat to be parents, relatives, orphans, poor, travellers, beggars and slaves; but acccording to Tradition, a Zakat given to rich, thieves can also be meritorious, since it is the mere act of giving which is the first consideration..Ardent believers continued as before to regard it as their right to bestow their zakat for themselves as they saw fit. When some Muslims states centralized the collection and defined in a ordinence. It was definitely a religious tax. Then there was dispute to the collectors, sometimes, misused the collection. The debate is still going on the best method of collection, percentage on what income; and its just distribution. It is considered that it is obligatory to pay zakat on the first month of Shawal which follows Ramadhan. The question still remains as to how many Mulims in world pay Zakat and that many pay according to their conscience and distrubte among the needy as they see fit..

Ya Ali Madad br. H.E. Mohamed & Rizwan, Pls allow me add a few lines to the subject matter. Muslim countries collect billions in zakaat every year but if Pakistan is used as yardstick of what happens to the Zakaat funds then one will be surprised to learn that most is frittered away in jihads against kafirs and shias; large anounts are channeled into madrasahs that teach quran & sunnah, whose graduates find work mostly with Jihadi outfits and rest of the zakaat disappears into private coffers. Question the abuse of zakaat and one is quickly chopped up and fed to the dogs. I do not think we owe any explanation to enemies of our deen like Juma, he can hide behind his many email addresses. If interested in a battle then Juma should show up at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ismailism

THE TITHE OR RELIGIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS: Your readers would be surprised that CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND CATHOLIC CHURCH are not running on begging bowls. Their investments amounting to millions and millions of dollars in stock and shares, industry, factories, insurance companies, buildings, lands are some that help run the vast organizations. To meet the vast empires of Churches, faithfuls'` tithe and contributions are first anf foremost. I read an article in the The Brazilian magazine"Veja", that :Can a sick person gurantee that he will get well by making a generous contributions to church? The evangical pastor Edir Macedo as asserting:"The donations of the faithful are fundamental to our being able to spread the Word of God.Thus, the divine cure is effective in proportion to the individual effort in making a donation." "VEJA" later commented on the different approach taken by Jehovah's Witnesses:"They do not agree with this. Each of the faithful gives to the chruch the amount he is able to. Contributions are confidential. Giving in public is condemned because it may lead to competition over generosity among the faithfuls." In face, the Bible advocates contributions, not for personal healing, but as an aid to others, especially spiritually. Did you know the idol of Lord of Triupathi Sri Venkateswra in South India wore a new crown, especially imported from Antwerp,Belgium worth more than 3.5 Crore rupees in 1954.Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams, whose income from Hindu faithfuls is 8 crores annually?

Question: Was the intention of this website, and its guestbook alike, created for the puspose of promoting your personal, selfless, ambitious business needs? I have kindly re-produced Mr. Jiwani's entry in this guestbook who in-turn is asking Ismailis around the world to send him emails if they are interested in conducting and enriching his business (see and read for yourself below) Mr. Jiwani, please let me remind you one thing, and that is that the real INTENTION of this forum was to not allow people like you to create and promote their selfless, un-ambitious entepreneural needs to aspire and quench your thirst for money laundering! The REAL purpose of this Ismaili website was to generate and evoke Ismailis religious-politcal thoughts around the world! One of OUR (Ismailis) major downfalls from grace has been been the fact that we have stood divided amongst ourselves within our community, that we have always tried to promote our own selfless personal aimbitious needs within our own community, over and above the needs of our own community at-large, the greed for acquiring more and more material wealth, more greed, ignorance of our own Ismaili faith and its history, and lack of respect for our elders and ourselves!! I am open for debate with any Ismaili(s) on the above points that I have mentioned. Anyone can email me with their response and I will respond, which is unlike what I can say for some pseudo-Ismailis of the likes of Mr. Akberally Maherally, who never bothers to respond to my emails, but has the audacity to be critical of our faith. To these of people, I say that your bark is louder than their bite! Aly

HAPPINESS IS ABOUT YOUR CHOICES:(Key to success) We live in times of material abudance. Most of us live in nice homes, drive nice cars and have many possessions. Yet despite our achievements and pleasant surroundings, many people are unhappy. They are dissatisfied with their lives and feel pulled in various directions. We continuously work hard and strive for a better quality of life, but seem to wander even further from this elusive dream. Many of us feel "there's got to be a better way." The problem centres around our definition of success. Success can mean different things to different people. YOUR DEFINITION SHOULD BE RELATED TO YOUR VALUES. HAPPINESS- AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH- comes from honouring your values. Values also provide our life direction in today's rapidly changing environment."If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing dahlias in his garden." Firstly, we don't have to do anything grand in order to be happy: secondly, we need balance; and thirdly, happiness and success are individual.

I have a question. What is the difference between a sunny, adn shia and Ismali. Did the prophet(PBUH) preach on message ,why are there so many different muslims. Did the Holy prophet say there will be 73 different muslims and all will go to Hell except one. Which one is the right one ? Please answer back. I dont know much about islam and im trying to learn. YOur efforts are much appreciated

MUSIC IN MUSLIMS:THE QAWWALI: The word Qawwali derived from the Arabic means "axiom" or "dictum."The Qawwali is inextricably linked to Sufi tradition; Sufism is a mystical school of Islamic thought which strives to attain truth and divine love by direct personal experience. In Arabic, this mysticism is known as tasawwuf. The mainstream Muslim believe that it is only possible to reach God after death at the final judgment, the Sufi believes that it is possible to reach God during one's life. The remembrance of God is known as dhikr, maybe either silent or vocal. The Qawwali may be viewed as an extension of the vocal form of this remembrance. The use of music as a spiritual force was discussed in great length by al-Gazali(1085-1111.) By the end of 11th century there was tradition of sama.Sama was often spiritual concert.al-Gazali(1085-1111) refined the principles of music and codified. These principles were expanded by the Chisti school of Sufism. The Chisti school was established by Kwaja Moinuddin Hassan Chisti(1143-1234).One of the followers of the Chisti school was Nizamuddin Aulya(1236-1325),One man who inspired by Hazrat Nizamuddin was Amir Khusru(1254-1324).Qawwali is closely linked to spiritual and artistic life of northern Indian and Pakistan.

=========A DECADE OF UNCERTAINTY========= The dawn of 1990's has brought with it new hopes for world peace. But it has also brought with it unparalleled uncertainty and confusion. But many nations that are capitalists have widespred poverty and unemployment, high debt. Even United States has a huge internal debt--some three million million dollars-- and is also large debtor nation in international trade. One result of the world's economic woes that there are more desperately poor people in the world than ever before. Partly because of growing uncetainties many have retreated into selfishness:the me-first attitude, material greed, the desire for instant gratification regardless of consequences. Rampant drug abuse is an evidence -the moral bottom has dropped out of the culture. Artists, economics, businessmen and families have lost faith in modernist certainties. Disillusionment turned out to be an emotion shared by people across fields and disciplines. Confusion prevails. Fragmentation. Emptiness. Irony. Chaos. These are some words in vogue. They define the intricate web of post-modernism in which modern people are lost. It is painfully evident that world's political, economic, and social systems do not have permanent remedies for today's immense problems and uncertainties. The very situation was fortold by Scriptures. Note a few examples: "In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here." "On earth anguish of nations, not knowing the way out..while men become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon inhabited earth."

Well said there H.E Mohamed. Whenever someone mentions Hazrat Ali, that person always becomes my loyal friend. Our beloved imams since the time of our first imam Hazrat Ali bin abi talib. To our present imam Hazrat shah Karim bin Ali. They have always (with grace of ALLAH...which IS them) guided us to the right path. We are very fortunate and thankful to ALLAH that He has bestowed his blessings to the Shia Imami Ismaili's of the world. I hope and i pray that may He bless all the human beings and whatever he has created...In this world or others to shower his beautiful blessings on everything.(AMEEN) To all my Ismaili brothers and sisters all over the world...KHUSHALI MUBARAK and let July 11TH be very special for all of us.

HOW FREE ARE WE ?UNRESTRAINED FREEDOM CAN RUIN THE SOCIETY: A man is born with a bundle of instincts, emotions, passions, with faculties of sensation, memory, reason, imagination, will, which are the materials of self of infinite worth. But the free being is entrusted with the fashioning of his own self for good or evil out of these materials, both by industriously developing their capacities and also by bringing them under a unified control. For any one to allow unrestrained freedom to his emotions or passions as he finds them, is disasterous alike to himself and to his fellow-man. It is to lose or destroy his own soul and to promote the ruin of society.A man must become concious that he is not his own master- he is under authority. This is in part the authority of human society, of parents or state or religious institutions and the higher authority which is properly divine. THOUGHTS OF TODAY:(1)"Happy is the house that shelters a friend"-Ralph Waldo Emerson.(2)"Treat your friend as you do your pictures.Place them in the best light"-Mrs.Mrs.Winston Churchill.(3)"Whoever discards a friend for the least fault, runs the risk of being friendless"-Hazrat Ali.

THOUGHTS OF TODAY:(1) We all have our own little glasses through which we view the world. We just have to be careful not to let each and every person's view affect how we see the world or how we see ourselves. (2) We live in a culture where people are offended much too easily. (3) Watch out for the person who says,"Well, if you want me to be honest with you......" What they are really saying is they are willing to be dishonest with you. (4)"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

ASKING FOR HELP: We need to be very careful whom we ask for help. I needed to get our lawn mower repaired. The repair shop said it would cost between $50 and $100. I asked a good friend who owns a lawn-care business, and it cost me $2 for a can of lubricant. I guess the old saying,"Never ask a barber if you need a haircut." is really true

HUMAN BEING NOT BORN WITH READY-MADE SELF: He is born with a bundle of instincts, emotions, passions, with faculties of sensation, memory, reason, imagination, will ,which are the materials of a self of infinte worth. But the free being is entrusted with the fashioning of his own self for good or evil out of these materials, both by industriously developing their capacities and aslo by bringing them under a unified control. He is not his or her own master. He or she is under authority. The authority of human society,. of parents, religion, and the divine laws.

To Alim re: his question of June 5th. Who the Imam (sa) marries is his prerogative, just like who the Prophet(saw)married was his prerogative. They, Prophet of Allah and his Wasi - the Imam e zamaan, both acted and act with the authority of Allah and the Imam makes decisions as he sees fit.

Just a question, if anyone out there can answer it by placing a response on this site. Why is it that Aga Khan doesn't marry an Ismaili? He claims that all Ismailies are his 'brothers and sisters' but Imam Ali himself married his first cousin? Just curious... thanks.

Well done website, although there is an error in the historical background of the Holy Prophet (saw). The text claims that the Prophet was hesitant in assigning Ali (as) leadership after his death. This is incorrect, as The Holy Prophet knew that Ali (as) is the right successor: The Prophet once said, "I am from Ali, and Ali is from me"

WE HAVE LOST OUR CIVILITY: How strange that in what is constantly being touted as the most enlightened, progressive era mankind has ever known, people are fuming at others' uncivil treatment of them to such a degree that it is legitimately labelled rage. This may be most progressive era for science and medicine, but in terms of courtesy and civility, the Victorian era was unquestionably far ahead of our.We have lost our cultural constraints.
