The message could not be related to any of the above mentioned things. It had to be something which was not previously declared.

The message, unique in the history of Allah's Prophets, introduced Hazrat Ali as the first revealed Imam of Muslim men and women.

Taking Hazrat Ali's hand in his hand and raising it high, Prophet Muhammad declared in a
clear and high tone:

"Man kuntu Mowlahu fa-Ali Mowlahu"meaning,"He of whom I am The Lord, Ali is also his Lord".
He then added:"Ali is to me what Harun (Aaron) was to Musa (Moses)."and prayed:"O Allah! Be a friend of Ali's friends and and a foe to His foes. Help those who help Ali and frustrate the hopes of those who betray Ali."

As Prophet Muhammad completed this message, Umar bin Khattab, who later became the second Caliph of Islam, presented himself before Hazrat Ali and said: "Congratulations to you, O the son of Abu Talib! You have become the Master of every male and female mu'min." Saying this he did Baiyat on Hazrat Ali's holy hand. Following Caliph Umar's example, all the rest of the Muslims, both men and women, made the baiyat on Hazrat Ali's hand amidst great rejoicing and merriment.

The memorable declaration led to the completion and perfection of religion as Allah commanded the Prophet to say:

" This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favours upon you and chosen for you Islam  as your religion  " - Sura 5 Ayat 3)
